Aerial Platform / Boom Lift Training

Aerial platform / Boom lift

Program Description:
The Aerial Platform/Boom Truck Training program consists of a classroom training session and a practical training session.  All participants must pass both sessions to become certified.  Successful participants receive a wallet certificate of achievement.

In Canada, two CSA Standards are involved, B354.2 Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms and B354.4 Self-Propelled Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platforms.  Self-propelled elevating work platforms refer to work platforms that cannot be positioned completely beyond the base on the machine.  Self-propelled boom-supported elevating work platforms refer to platforms that can be positioned completely beyond the base of the machine.  This theory training is quite similar for both types.  If only one kind of machine is used, the practical time can be reduced from that stated in this outline.

Elevating Work Platform Training Program Objectives:

Aerial Platform/Boom Lift Training, trainee's will learn the competency requirements for safe operation of Boom-Type Elevating Work Platforms and Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms (for use on paved/slab surfaces) used in Industry.

Boom Truck / Scissor Lift Commonly Asked Questions:

Who Conducts Aerial Platform Training / Scissor Lift Certification?

Our instructors have many years of self-propelled elevating work platform and self-propelled boom-supported elevating work platform operating expertise. They not only understand the requirements of current legislation but understand the everyday issues and concerns of the operators.  Their focus is doing everything they possibly can to prevent accidents at your facilities.

Where does the training take place?

We will conduct scissor lift or boom truck training anywhere in North America.  It is advisable that operators be trained on the scissor lifts or boom trucks they will be assigned to use.  Use of platforms with different capacities, or different maneuverability etc. does little to ensure safe use of the aerial work platforms at your plants.  Practical testing is based of the conditions at your plants and the functions performed at your plants.

How often do aerial platform operators have to train in Canada?

The Occupational Health and Safety Act requires those operating lifting devices such as a manlift to be competent.

CSA standards B354.2 Self Propelled Elevating Work Platforms and B354.4 Self-Propelled Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platforms require that only qualified personnel who have been trained regarding the inspection, operation, and application of an aerial platform, including the recognition and avoidance of hazards associated with the operation, shall operate an aerial platform.
